You should be able to
write the definition
in both verbal and symbolic form for each of the following sets of numbers:
Natural Numbers
Prime Numbers
Composite Numbers
Whole Numbers
Rational Numbers
Irrational Numbers
Real Numbers
Complex Numbers
You should know and be able to use interval notation, set builder notation, and a graph to describe each of the following special sets of numbers:
Open interval
Closed interval
Interval containing one end and not the other end
Open ray to infinity
Closed ray to infinity
Open ray to negative infinity
Closed ray to negative infinity
You should know the subset relations between the major sets of numbers.
Given any real number you should be able to determine which of the major sets of numbers contain the given number.
You should score at least 85% on each of the practice quizzes for this unit.
