Preparing for TEST 1

 

General : Begin the review early -- don't cram!

Pay heed to the advice on Page 16 of the text.
"Many of the terms used in this text may be new to you. It will be helpful to make a list of new mathematical terms and symbols as you encounter them and to review them frequently."

It is important that you know defintions, be able to answer questions of all kinds (see the list I handed out at the first of the semester and look at tests and quizzes from previous semesters).

You must know and be able to use the formulas presented in the Chapter summary on this website.

You must know how to perform the few computational skills that were presented in Chapter 1.

You must know all about the important sets of numbers.

You must be able to read write and understand set notations, operations, and relations.

You must know and understand how to use the Number line to illustrate various number facts and operations.

You must know the chapter summary material on the website, the textbook material in Chapter 1, and two special topics essays from the website. Introduction to Sets and Sets of Numbers
